High Frequency Treatment

Vis-a-Vis uses high frequency treatments in our Full Face with Brow Maintenance $56 service, as an enrichment add on in facials ($12), and in our acne services. But what is it?

What does it look like?

The high frequency machine we use has a base like a wand. In the top, there is an opening where a glass tube can fit in as an extension of the wand. The glass tubes are filled with either argon or neon gas. When in use, argon gives off a bluish light while neon gives off an orange-ish light. Argon is often used with acne prone skin while neon is used for anti-aging effects.

What does it do?

A safe and gentle electrical current passes through the gas filled tube, which causes it to oscillate. This movement produces enriched oxygen molecules as well as slight thermal warming in the skin. The currents push out toxins from the skin and increase blood circulation in the skin. High frequency has the capability of increasing collagen and elastin production which can help with the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. High frequency also helps eliminate acne-causing bacteria, which helps clear skin for those of us who are acne-prone.

How can I get a high frequency treatment?

The easiest way to experience high frequency would be to schedule a Heart-Crafted Facial. If you are unsure about what to schedule, a 60 Minute Heart-Crafted Facial is both customized to your needs and a good length to start thinking about adding enrichments to the service. If your unsure about whether a high frequency treatment is right for you, your esthetician will be able to talk with you about the pros and cons of a high frequency in light of your skin and your desired results. Our high frequency treatment is an additional $12 to the cost of the facial you receive.

High Frequency Contraindications:

There are some reasons why high frequency is not good for a person to have. Consider not getting high frequency if you have one of the following conditions.

  • Headaches / Migraines (high frequency emits a buzzing sound)

  • Epilepsy

  • Excessive dental fillings / Braces (can cause strong metallic taste in mouth)

  • Pregnancy

  • Pacemaker
