Anyone look into buying one of these wooden portable buildings you see everywhere and turn it into a small camphouse/deer camp deal? Kinda thinking it would work for kinda cheap and quick shelter in a remote location.

I have a 12x16 side lofted building from Graceland. Use one loft for bed and other for storage. Have another bed on bottom and couch and have flat screen tv mounted on the door I don't open. Works great

I know a guy that put two together for a house. If you think about it they aren't much different than old cabins size wise. Just insulate and throw a bed on one side and a wood burning stove on the other and you have your basics.

I have priced them and they are cost prohibative, I can build one at home depot lumber prices for 60 cent on the dollor and have poured footings so it is more wind and storm resistant. I am planing on buildind a 12x16 6 foot up on poles for a hunting stand I cane sleep in. I think I priced it out @ three k total

Stay away from Tuff Sheds if you ever plan on moving it once it's built. They use a light metal c beams for the foundation and Tuff Sheds and none of the other portable building builders will move them once they are built because they are scared they will tear the foundation up loading it on a truck.

I have on that has been sitting in Rw's brother's backyard for over a year now because I can't find anyone to move it. Looks like I am going to have to tear it down and move it.

I have the exact same one - was a repo and thus, discounted. I actually turned it into a cabin while our house was being built. If you're going to stay in it during the summer, I highly recommend insulating it all the way around... otherwise you'll bake. Probably gets pretty cold too during the winter.

The Gracelands are well made and they use good materials.

And I think you will find, as I have that building will actually cost you more than buying - especially if you go with a repo.

Here's a pic of half of it with a shed roof that I added for my tractor:

I will add a second to the graceland buildings. I bought a 16x24 to use as a HAM radio shack. I added a mini split AC/heat and it is good to go. very well built.
